A central hole promotes more physiological aqueous circulation from the pupil to the anterior chamber, effectively eliminating the need for a peripheral iridectomy by providing a direct pathway for fluid movement and reducing intraocular pressure complications.
The Adtec APL is designed to create space between the posterior chamber phakic IOL and the anterior surface of the crystalline lens, preventing contact while allowing fluid flow. Its vaulted design ensures no contact with the posterior iris or crystalline lens, reducing the risk of late complications such as pigmentary dispersion syndrome and complicated cataracts.
